Little things...

I finally finished digging out the 1/4" hexagon papers.
Near the end I was getting pretty quick at it.

All that is left is the papers around the very edge of the little quilt. I needed them in until the next stage is done to give it a bit more stability.
After all the papers came out I gave the little quilt a light misting of spray starch.

Here is a look at the back!

There were a lot of stray basting threads on the back.
Masking tape rolled around my hand worked for that!

I'll be framing this mini. I rescued an old frame from my aunt that I'll re-glue and reinforce the corners and then paint. I plan on stitching the quilt down to a med/dark blue background fabric...it will give it the matted look.

It is going to take me a while to sew around the edge of those tiny hexagons!

And not to be forgotten...I am working away at putting rows together. One section is from the top and one is from the bottom...eventually they will meet in the middle!

Construction has begun!!!!

Oh my they are so cute!
And I am stupidly excited to see it starting to get assembled into rows.

Four rows done! This is going to take a very long time but I am really enjoying the process.

On the back I am pressing quite a few seams open including the long row seams. To get them to behave I am lightly spritzing the back with a bit of starch. It is really helping to keep things flat.

And I have started cutting for another quilt. This is a small Bear Paw wall hanging - all in blues and browns - a favorite color combo that I probably use too often.

Check out the date on this magazine - April 1994! I have wanted to make this little quilt since I bought this magazine 22 years ago. Now that is a LONG time to be on my quilt to do list!

Today I am spending my day sewing nine patches into rows. It's a wonderful day!

Nine

The end of making 9 patches has come! All 1116 of them are finished!!!

They are so adorable! All I have left is cutting some 2" squares and a few setting triangles and I can start assembling. I am so excited!

Cutiing! Cutiing! Cutting!

I've been sewing strips and cutting and cutting and cutting.....
I think this may be enough of these units.

462 more 1-1/2"  9 patch blocks left to sew.

And I finished a pair of socks I have been working on for a long time.
This is a pattern from Ravelry - Vanilla Latte Socks

They fit nice and snug (but not too snug) and I like the choices in the pattern for different heels and different toes.

Those little sock needles are a bit harder to handle now with my hands hurting and stiff so I'll be switching to bigger needle projects for most of my knitting! I'm sure though that once in a while I'll just have to knit socks because they are fun!

I might be crazy!

Am I crazy? My husband thinks maybe just a little....

I've been busy making more units for my mini nine patches

That will keep me going for a while. I put them to good use right away!

297 more mini nine patches one totaling 654 so far.

I have 100 left to make of this configuration and then I start on the next 362 where the background is in the corners.

But I ran out of these segments...

I have been loving this quilt and as I sew I am already planning another 'little' piece quilt. I'm thinking flying geese.... but first I had better get cutting so I can continue and finish my 1-1/2" nine patch blocks!
