I can't believe so much time has gone by since my last post! It's been busy yet not busy. I suppose I have been a little cocooned at home. I have also been back in the office and yesterday we opened back up to the public. What a day! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I took my two sewing machines in for a cleaning and just got them back. I was without them for just over two weeks so I was busy doing handwork projects for a couple of weeks.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I finished another pair of socks for my dad. These will be a fathers day gift! I make him a couple pairs each year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGT9xtl_oCWQa2CcyXkpAbdHqTILUg9vPp6sqsQ_N2J0KuJnHA9YOEMPhGt14fSyYLu15hyphenhyphen9XpRGd-EBYxPDLvV4rFEfwOk6U6EqtNCaIGn5UYJMg60KMZNvYIMvidR8Ki4PBHvhB83umD/s1600/IMG_3642a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGT9xtl_oCWQa2CcyXkpAbdHqTILUg9vPp6sqsQ_N2J0KuJnHA9YOEMPhGt14fSyYLu15hyphenhyphen9XpRGd-EBYxPDLvV4rFEfwOk6U6EqtNCaIGn5UYJMg60KMZNvYIMvidR8Ki4PBHvhB83umD/s320/IMG_3642a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have been wanting to learn to do back basting applique. This seemed like the perfect time. I am not sure I am completely sold on it but it is very accurate. I enjoyed appliqueing the long minimally curved lines but not so much the flower. I think I really preferred my usual method using freezer paper. That may be a case of teaching an old dog! I will keep going though to finish this project. It will be about 35" square when finished so it is a good size to learn. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK382c7OeJYyQswLhJq8ireUaWPbHkJqoB8MetlxU5ASByyZufdl_CPthOZjXRT-NujmLvkGLM0lPMdlS4tpfJHY8iEgTTThUzOPzFnTJtnO8tU8YXU7oXurXFzwvQPPSEmKI2Ia6wEzX6/s1600/IMG-0297a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK382c7OeJYyQswLhJq8ireUaWPbHkJqoB8MetlxU5ASByyZufdl_CPthOZjXRT-NujmLvkGLM0lPMdlS4tpfJHY8iEgTTThUzOPzFnTJtnO8tU8YXU7oXurXFzwvQPPSEmKI2Ia6wEzX6/s320/IMG-0297a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is part of the front so far!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXhcEYUc4uoXCL0rRKaqEEq31iaIU_n-VQtPFR05Ayhd0Gcr-GG6CGZL_3fYq78go4zMQMN4BeKfhHwQ_0hlit3xbsIfjBcQSwwf6Z1-3FIUTv_sSofUmLlpsctbQ1r1wuoWTOMJg-zs8N/s1600/IMG-0296a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXhcEYUc4uoXCL0rRKaqEEq31iaIU_n-VQtPFR05Ayhd0Gcr-GG6CGZL_3fYq78go4zMQMN4BeKfhHwQ_0hlit3xbsIfjBcQSwwf6Z1-3FIUTv_sSofUmLlpsctbQ1r1wuoWTOMJg-zs8N/s320/IMG-0296a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another technique I wanted to try was hand piecing. It still surprises me that I have never tried it. I do all sorts of handwork and really enjoy it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is as far as I got- hand piecing is NOT for me! I found the entire process tedious. I'll stick with English paper piecing. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6N-M0GBPz7qa75jLV1RvXg8ecqP4YMvtwqrjg9qHMU89aE3fU8dP1tnXJvJrCDqk68expx7MpcC3bSdNV8UxIPAUGB4MP6lYCc8Z0khquIcKuhM8X69Z7dCMPMij9cn6MCLTiRqzn7sx-/s1600/IMG-0294a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6N-M0GBPz7qa75jLV1RvXg8ecqP4YMvtwqrjg9qHMU89aE3fU8dP1tnXJvJrCDqk68expx7MpcC3bSdNV8UxIPAUGB4MP6lYCc8Z0khquIcKuhM8X69Z7dCMPMij9cn6MCLTiRqzn7sx-/s320/IMG-0294a.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I finished hand quilting and binding this little quilt. I love how it turned out. This is the second one. The first one was made for a quilt exchange. The colors of the strips and borders were different. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have also started a new long term project that I will work on when I feel like it. It is blue and white 2" sawtooth stars. They are so cute! I can't stop petting them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am just using up small pieces of blue and white/cream from my stash. I can get quite a few stars from a small piece. I have no idea how many I will make or what the setting will be. I am just going to keep sewing them until I am tired of them.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfJY48NPZPZkPcEf7NhcoRAPeEejLFzWi5PdND2TxP0jLm3ZgEuUk5eg6rti4-zXYf4rmt2U2fVHmpFGS4-tS7NJGVf0oZbTGpD-sz9QEUwUm3tOvkt_b18fZeXjCGjl68iScHrU96eaEP/s1600/IMG_3648a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfJY48NPZPZkPcEf7NhcoRAPeEejLFzWi5PdND2TxP0jLm3ZgEuUk5eg6rti4-zXYf4rmt2U2fVHmpFGS4-tS7NJGVf0oZbTGpD-sz9QEUwUm3tOvkt_b18fZeXjCGjl68iScHrU96eaEP/s320/IMG_3648a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now that I have my machines back, I always like to give them a test run before declaring they are working OK after coming back home. My small machine ( my backup) was tested on this little project. The bottom pouch will be my coin purse. ( My old one finally was completely worn out after 20 years!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I declared the backup machine was working really good! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This week on my day off I will test my regular machine. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have noticed that many of the other bloggers I read on a regular basis are blogging a lot or not at all right now. I have been wondering about that...and many many blogs I have enjoyed are posting less and less or not at all in the past few years. I too am guilty of this. But I am still reading and enjoying what postings there are. I suppose I just wanted to say...I miss all the bloggers whose lives have taken them in different directions!</div>

I've been spending so much time in my sewing room just like many others who are at home. I feel very creatively inspired right now. As I have been cleaning up, I keep finding little projects buried under things. But first...a couple things I finished...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The stitched ornaments are for my Christmas tree. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq54y1oXLn1rl7K5Ss7wyaKBnBapPd_ifwGpqin3jhaT7-o1Cpq0iRe4ijMbb3XN80nEmxZkgEo7n24chDyX-9uZJay909Ow5jwsCML-4pqJBpA8c2xgZIrVhm6fYLvEbB6TKblOqkm3nU/s1600/IMG_3639a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq54y1oXLn1rl7K5Ss7wyaKBnBapPd_ifwGpqin3jhaT7-o1Cpq0iRe4ijMbb3XN80nEmxZkgEo7n24chDyX-9uZJay909Ow5jwsCML-4pqJBpA8c2xgZIrVhm6fYLvEbB6TKblOqkm3nU/s320/IMG_3639a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These two stitchery hangings were a lesson in making due with what I have on hand. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One will probably be for me and one a gift. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuWtqpaBxo3qTYWG1_uK_QGudMtNQ24kSiFAtS9jRrSrm7QDa7aKikL-f_xQU8Ju9wPSd9NSqHPrgTe1AX2vpPAEiIvKASwrP1x5QxZibGA4TIt19VXZfkedaHRPRfeJOB4sHcXVmLqrD1/s1600/IMG_3638a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuWtqpaBxo3qTYWG1_uK_QGudMtNQ24kSiFAtS9jRrSrm7QDa7aKikL-f_xQU8Ju9wPSd9NSqHPrgTe1AX2vpPAEiIvKASwrP1x5QxZibGA4TIt19VXZfkedaHRPRfeJOB4sHcXVmLqrD1/s320/IMG_3638a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I laid out the blocks for this quilt just as it was shown in the magazine. I was going to start playing with the layout until I realized that with 6 different blocks I could change the layout a hundred times and I would probably like them all. I like this layout- many of the blocks are put together in a chunk. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcbAJjxSoVT2eULqYnCNid2KevFoNJ35vSYF1AL8osPWjCh_oqRNFiP_6G9v-6uuxcXBBhOwabCzy6MlX-_0hMb2xgkwKW8V0D5SG10UwJF-qZomcAYfnmbHH0a1xTwKXAvtEgCfPQtmTR/s1600/IMG_3631a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcbAJjxSoVT2eULqYnCNid2KevFoNJ35vSYF1AL8osPWjCh_oqRNFiP_6G9v-6uuxcXBBhOwabCzy6MlX-_0hMb2xgkwKW8V0D5SG10UwJF-qZomcAYfnmbHH0a1xTwKXAvtEgCfPQtmTR/s320/IMG_3631a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I haven't started sewing the rows together yet. I'll do that one day when I feel like doing something mindless. It won't be quilted for a while so I am in no hurry. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a little applique that I had buried on my cutting table. At least I know it is not that old- just a year! I finished the applique and sewed on the border. Luckily I was able to find some of the dark pink fabric still in my stash because I was missing 2 half square triangle squares. I still have more to clean off my table so I won't be surprised to find them later. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPpAeNkcQlNyO1ROOj5Jff9BWYj9o9fB_66OFeQ38k5ozSn6ipwTQjUd2RIgjItpeshnlodKTLVhRetCLsaWyCZphzeUBk6NITGPqcbFtg68xq_rwF2LZrL7W-hTH2pNUb3HDvSP6Qzrh0/s1600/IMG_3633a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPpAeNkcQlNyO1ROOj5Jff9BWYj9o9fB_66OFeQ38k5ozSn6ipwTQjUd2RIgjItpeshnlodKTLVhRetCLsaWyCZphzeUBk6NITGPqcbFtg68xq_rwF2LZrL7W-hTH2pNUb3HDvSP6Qzrh0/s320/IMG_3633a.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have this quilt and 2 other little quilts ready to baste. I can't show the other 2 because one is for a small quilt exchange I am doing and the other is the same quilt I am making for myself! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I plan to hand quilt all three quilts. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And after 20 years my cutting mat is dead. I have turned that mat in every direction I could to get as much life out of it as I can. I have smaller ones I can use for now until I am able to get a new one. I bet there are a lot more choices now than 20 years ago!</div>

<br />
I have been cleaning my sewing room and have found lots of little projects to finish. Here are two I did finish this past week. My little hexagons above ( they are 3/8" - about the size of a fingernail!), and below's quilt is about 24" square.Both will be coffee table quilts.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What started me on the cleaning up journey? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was one of those people who was away on a cruise. I went before the warning to not go on cruises from my government and before the cruise ship off the coast of California was having issues. We came home just after the warning had been issued. And at the time we came home it was still just recommended to self monitor. By the end of the first week back it was self isolation for anyone traveling so into self isolation we went for the last week. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We were both fine at the end of our 14 days. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is where the cleaning started. For the first 2 days in self isolation I sat in my sewing room and just looked around. Then I picked at things piled on my cutting table. Then I cleaned a bit. I couldn't concentrate. I did not feel inspired to create. I knew I would have to force myself so I picked out a pattern from a magazine that was scrappy enough to make from my stash and easy enough I didn't have to concentrate too much. The quilt is from issue #29 of Simply Vintage. The name is Padstow. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are the blocks...they are all made and this week I will lay them out and start arranging them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Problem two was that I couldn't decide on fabric. I was unusually indecisive. Finally I realized I had a bin full of blue and gold that was for a Dear Jane quilt that I had abandoned ( again!) and that would work for this quilt. So I dived in and started cutting. It got me back to my happy place and I used up almost every single scrap of fabric in the bin. I even had to dig through my stash a bit to pull out a bit more to get the blocks done. I will probably big stitch this quilt once it is pieced. I am quite liking it! </div>

And these will be magnetic needle holders. These two won't be finished for a while because I need two strong magnets that my dad is donating to me. With Covid 19, I will not be seeing him for what could be a long time. I want to keep him healthy and alive so we are not taking any chances. I talk to him every day though- most days twice a day. He is going to get tired of talking to me soon! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And finally I had bought some cotton to knit some dishcloths. Mine are worn out and needed replacing. This big ball will give me enough to last several years. </div>

I had 2 goals this weekend- get the borders on my tumbler and baste two little quilts. I am very happy to say I got it done! That does not happen often as usually my quilty goals take longer than I think they will.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the tumbler with borders. It will finish about 58" by 66". I may just have enough of the border fabric left to do binding but if not I'll make it a scrappy binding. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq-hnIi29G0aRxgN1myFg075dFFU8WlzCrNVe7I0lPOdWztfsRW8FrM-zV3xhG6uW1vFttFbQYIHwCRDR2V1gH8OsJP7AW9SXLr6dGcHV3QRO8ntNCAcijDy2f3Oy61Hv_Y4L3KZDe0Zy9/s1600/IMG_3591.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1145" data-original-width="1471" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq-hnIi29G0aRxgN1myFg075dFFU8WlzCrNVe7I0lPOdWztfsRW8FrM-zV3xhG6uW1vFttFbQYIHwCRDR2V1gH8OsJP7AW9SXLr6dGcHV3QRO8ntNCAcijDy2f3Oy61Hv_Y4L3KZDe0Zy9/s320/IMG_3591.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are the hexagons- it is 26" from flat side to flat side.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did a double row of hexagons on the border- some of that last row will get cut off when I add binding.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think I have it figured out how to quilt it. It is just deciding on color(s) now.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When I basted the little nine patch I used the wool batting I had pressed to get out the wrinkles. It had fluffed right up! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can't really see it that well but as I basted the stitches really compressed the batting back down so I am hoping when I hand quilt it, it will not look too 'fluffy'!</div>

This week I had a wonderful treat- 2 days at home to do what ever I wanted! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I sewed and napped and sewed and napped.... I have been working on my tumblers- getting them all sewn together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAJlaS6AoyLeM0w-ltO8MHucMYylJzmZT235mKyeqp_L5AYymJ5kBXuUihmE0QA1CJ2WcSv2Ii1jMI8oJwNwQxnTdt99VXc2WWbQe_syfl_nPuVlr_at_U3lNdFj7YebVBoddfU6ucwKY2/s1600/IMG_3575a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1176" data-original-width="1356" height="276" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAJlaS6AoyLeM0w-ltO8MHucMYylJzmZT235mKyeqp_L5AYymJ5kBXuUihmE0QA1CJ2WcSv2Ii1jMI8oJwNwQxnTdt99VXc2WWbQe_syfl_nPuVlr_at_U3lNdFj7YebVBoddfU6ucwKY2/s320/IMG_3575a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am so glad I decided to lay them out so no seams had to match. Here and there there was a tumbler cut on the bias and I had to be very careful with the stretch. It was so much fun though because every tumbler came from someone else's stash . I don't even remember seeing a fabric that I actually have in my stash so it is fun - all the colors, textures and a few surprises (like fish) but they all just blend together!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJiGdWeXCNQMykIV-wulamRzZlLhyphenhyphenHfN3iqjDR7qGyNUkspW3bGUuw9MAnqb8WwNjOmbinVKw6Ep_8JD3YNWfYMel_xuT76b9YNFWyXAK2crAj1NbA3IZDE8EeYTYpI5nGLKfB4aV6iVnQ/s1600/IMG_3577a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJiGdWeXCNQMykIV-wulamRzZlLhyphenhyphenHfN3iqjDR7qGyNUkspW3bGUuw9MAnqb8WwNjOmbinVKw6Ep_8JD3YNWfYMel_xuT76b9YNFWyXAK2crAj1NbA3IZDE8EeYTYpI5nGLKfB4aV6iVnQ/s320/IMG_3577a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once the strips were all together it measures about 66" long but only 43" wide. I want this to be a good napping quilt so it really needs more width. I am trying to use what I have so I found a green polka dot in my stash that I thought would work. I stared at that for a few days. I think it will work. I got it ironed today so I will get the borders on this week. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
While I was ironing I got two backs and two battings ready to baste 2 small quilts. Here is one of them! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCpLLVztvmNILvQOyRu1p12-D5JBA4PUDc7lF56WF_PwJ-VWx3pfCYqQV9Mb7uOiQeTC7LBsJEv3eThyphenhypheno7trIUAQGJ0CCbWv9ycJy7_sfF5eIIWWSyzxKTSgJCl8Huuag-8mMVW_laCm-6/s1600/IMG_3401a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCpLLVztvmNILvQOyRu1p12-D5JBA4PUDc7lF56WF_PwJ-VWx3pfCYqQV9Mb7uOiQeTC7LBsJEv3eThyphenhypheno7trIUAQGJ0CCbWv9ycJy7_sfF5eIIWWSyzxKTSgJCl8Huuag-8mMVW_laCm-6/s320/IMG_3401a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have you ever ironed batting? I did today. I am using up some scraps for the small quilts and they were really wrinkled. I spritzed some water and ironed them on low using a pressing cloth. The wool batting had a 'wet wooly' smell but once it was dry it was fine. The other batting was cotton and it pressed out really well. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hopefully tomorrow I will baste and maybe get a couple borders on too! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching! </div>

When I moved to the city after getting married I didn't even bring it with me but I FINALLY brought it home with me after the last visit to my dad's. ( I'll have to get a daylight photo of this quilt- the colors make me so happy but this photo does not do it justice)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHo4fb7rgz45O_-MybZGg4QTmHVjpmqt6rV7Ed19iY-_NuH5rcbB7a6znzkbI8wL4OZLgJUZ-yUoFUAm06U1yR-0Rss6yjIgJrRVdAI3BBIHq2Q3C5I7YNe6lx7EBxuRT_GkrOoq6b4lpg/s1600/IMG_3571a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHo4fb7rgz45O_-MybZGg4QTmHVjpmqt6rV7Ed19iY-_NuH5rcbB7a6znzkbI8wL4OZLgJUZ-yUoFUAm06U1yR-0Rss6yjIgJrRVdAI3BBIHq2Q3C5I7YNe6lx7EBxuRT_GkrOoq6b4lpg/s320/IMG_3571a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The biggest reason for not using it has been my rheumatoid arthritis. Most of the last 4 years my hands just couldn't hold a little quilting needle very well so I only quilted small little projects by hand. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But this quilt changed that. It just spoke to me that it needed to be hand done. I tried doing it in the hoop with a clam shell design and my regular quilting needle and thread but discovered that was too hard on my hands so I had to find a solution. I just can't quilt like I used to despite wanting too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJVG92SpFUB2HKPW2cDJUo9q8wYe6OklIQr6UKnALwrF-cF4yj42Fs0eE6hNGJsRGzag_UGJoiDT851FhyphenhyphenTyhBSklLzHLQxBQJSsDYzuxeV_Af41UbVoAZ-oFhjTIptJUzSWVXCCAIdIGo/s1600/IMG_3570a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJVG92SpFUB2HKPW2cDJUo9q8wYe6OklIQr6UKnALwrF-cF4yj42Fs0eE6hNGJsRGzag_UGJoiDT851FhyphenhyphenTyhBSklLzHLQxBQJSsDYzuxeV_Af41UbVoAZ-oFhjTIptJUzSWVXCCAIdIGo/s320/IMG_3570a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I can big stitch fairly easily though. I am using a chenille needle size 24 and size 8 pearle cotton. And not to forget the most important part- my mini piers. Even with a needle grabber I can't get my needle pulled through- I need those pliers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I discovered I can only quilt directly towards me vertically or at an angle from the right. I can't quilt coming from the left, horizontally or away from me so my clam shells have turned into a straight grid- which I love by the way!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My stitches may not be as even as they used to be and I may only be able to put a few stitches on my needle before pulling it through but I am loving sitting in front of my quilt frame slowly stitching away.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I try to spend a half hour to an hour everyday enjoying the quilting process. It is quite meditative. Some days I sit in the quiet and some days I listen to an audio book or a podcast. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am so grateful that I can still sit in front of my quilt frame enjoying the process even if I will never have small even stitches again!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I promised an update on Dear Jane... well I haven't quite gathered my thoughts on that yet. I keep changing my mind on color and size. My thoughts keep strolling to a red and white Dear Jane and I am seriously thinking of reducing the block sizes from 4-1/2" to 3". My husband thinks I am completely crazy! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What do yo think? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching!</div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>I have old eyes!</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZhpZ1E9pdK_ElUe-_Hdgj0AhuXpUpQBOCJPc874HvGPLFbyZ1bF8ma0fPxyz_3Sp3yWsNFNmsTKOGYSl586dsoPvftKrUD3sYWh3-gUuAMWyMkG6GdVhlKbxp9lSjl5KoKf91fpLlJL3J/s1600/IMG_3559a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZhpZ1E9pdK_ElUe-_Hdgj0AhuXpUpQBOCJPc874HvGPLFbyZ1bF8ma0fPxyz_3Sp3yWsNFNmsTKOGYSl586dsoPvftKrUD3sYWh3-gUuAMWyMkG6GdVhlKbxp9lSjl5KoKf91fpLlJL3J/s320/IMG_3559a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is time to accept that my eyes just can't see some of the things I used to. After Christmas I decided to get out a cross stitch UFO and while looking at it it just didn't seem right. I got out my magnifier and I had missed half the stitch in a whole row and in a few other places too! See if you can see it! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="text-align: center;">This is a Santa, all in shades of white and cream. Even with my magnifier I struggle to see the differences in color and the stitches. That UFO has now been tucked away probably for good. </span><br />
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsbtan8rWodaKFzS79_8BARYFdqmEGtEGwLrXYNAPHpM7RZUkCeB1b5LkyhQ1ASGRxLgwcK_PclqcXIf5woZCXndKCaMWxLsMTCbouUCHdp_GVF14gysdOioHmNsqlAw5rHdMkRVah2d4o/s1600/IMG_3560a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsbtan8rWodaKFzS79_8BARYFdqmEGtEGwLrXYNAPHpM7RZUkCeB1b5LkyhQ1ASGRxLgwcK_PclqcXIf5woZCXndKCaMWxLsMTCbouUCHdp_GVF14gysdOioHmNsqlAw5rHdMkRVah2d4o/s320/IMG_3560a.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I started a new knitting project using fingering and mohair. Fingering is fine but the mohair... not so good! This will be my last time using it- my old eyes are struggling to see that too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh43Q6Qvfvbm38jHIaZHIQpckvfqq7-uEMKIdSan8wIF7g_N-0h-MEwXb3la1jByjJrLhpIwsiN7WfbtldxWcTl6_ge3P2yC_JoC4PdwmW3wT2fTbepdRZij1GbHA1jhVh7lrLJASfMaq3T/s1600/IMG_3567a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh43Q6Qvfvbm38jHIaZHIQpckvfqq7-uEMKIdSan8wIF7g_N-0h-MEwXb3la1jByjJrLhpIwsiN7WfbtldxWcTl6_ge3P2yC_JoC4PdwmW3wT2fTbepdRZij1GbHA1jhVh7lrLJASfMaq3T/s320/IMG_3567a.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now that Christmas is over... here is a gift I made for my dad. He has a big metal rooster he keeps on his deck in the summer. He calls it Foggy ( for Foghorn Leghorn!) so when I saw this pattern I knew I had to make it for him. He loves it! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is all English paper pieced and it was quite a production keeping all those pieces in the right order.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Here is the Christmas gift I didn't get done. I will get it done soon though. It is a fabulous dragon. It is ready for stuffing now and then assembly. Then the fun part comes with embellishing. Since I no longer have a deadline I can enjoy playing with my beads and threads and other shiny things!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I have been making progress in this quilt! I have all the foundation piecing done that I am going to do. I'm not crazy about the clam shell border so I am skipping that. I will probably have to play with the layout a bit but I am loving all my colors! </div>

I have been busy trimming so now it is time to sewing the small points to the larger pieces.Then I can start laying it out. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now that the new year is here it seemed like a good time to reflect on my UFO's, my bucket list and what projects I want to play with this new year. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My bucket list for this year is small. I want to learn to back baste applique and I want to make another scrappy quilt with really small pieces (still deciding on that!) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are the two applique patterns I want to make to learn back basting! </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

As far as UFO's...the only one causing me trouble is Dear Jane. More about that next time! </div>

I've been working on that pineapple quilt- sewing down the strips on the back from the quilt as you go method I'm using. The quilt is HEAVY!!!And it's big! It is close to 100" square.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Before I started working on the binding his morning I got my husband to get on the scale to weigh it. The quilt weighs a whopping 7-1/2 pounds! I know that does not sound heavy but when it's sitting on your lap or when you are wrestling it under you presser foot , it is heavy.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtWvCmozxtIT45qXvIhkDSUgBk0Z9Jm4NtPF8gcJTHESEnsqvlpN6gyAfgxjcRQXOdf0GGQrOJZzZovD2IJDMkpv5L1ns0pIhMS343Flu0i1rCigL33EOvTgrQUviLg5ARBoKJxnxEtSXp/s1600/IMG_3546a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtWvCmozxtIT45qXvIhkDSUgBk0Z9Jm4NtPF8gcJTHESEnsqvlpN6gyAfgxjcRQXOdf0GGQrOJZzZovD2IJDMkpv5L1ns0pIhMS343Flu0i1rCigL33EOvTgrQUviLg5ARBoKJxnxEtSXp/s320/IMG_3546a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The binding is now sewn on. All I have left to do before enjoying it on the bed is to finish sewing it down by hand. I am going to spend a coupe days with my dad this week so that is what I will bring with me!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
By this time next week I should be sleeping under it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching!</div>

I don't know why I didn't get this quilt done a long time ago.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did add one more row of black hexagons to make the edge a bit wider. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I didn't want the one row of black to get lost in the binding. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7pazataaVytV1gwRjvG51Zb8PGZpiJoGf5G0PYNMhTNQi-Enr9Qkto7y_I3N_IfMdOw-lziT51Up19zuX4c8G31mMG3NEFcvZo51LaQ4jLylRZgjIHHcdV1OfS_AwkWM4NW08p3hj3nhy/s1600/IMG_3401a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7pazataaVytV1gwRjvG51Zb8PGZpiJoGf5G0PYNMhTNQi-Enr9Qkto7y_I3N_IfMdOw-lziT51Up19zuX4c8G31mMG3NEFcvZo51LaQ4jLylRZgjIHHcdV1OfS_AwkWM4NW08p3hj3nhy/s320/IMG_3401a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My little 3/8" hexagon quilt still needed to have the basting stitches taken out and then the papers. I spent my snowy afternoon today sitting at my cutting table, watching Harry Potter getting it started. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First I gave the whole quilt a good pressing from the front and the back too. The back is important because once I start taking the papers out I want all the folds to lay back down. I makes for easier quilting later on.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My most important tool for this- my lint brush! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVFrc3WHirxeQVY3F5hOt5dmVgGUT0yEBTvKcET_OqxJP9Dw4ZEHqY0XgTM5xvgzAsrk5Ark1nSCaXnAvZtUYDEGpHuNQPBtt8UA3HBCX3ixD_ZcxQWoietoks7MPhedmsZdaFk0TLyTap/s1600/IMG_3537a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVFrc3WHirxeQVY3F5hOt5dmVgGUT0yEBTvKcET_OqxJP9Dw4ZEHqY0XgTM5xvgzAsrk5Ark1nSCaXnAvZtUYDEGpHuNQPBtt8UA3HBCX3ixD_ZcxQWoietoks7MPhedmsZdaFk0TLyTap/s320/IMG_3537a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I could not live without my seam ripper and a curved end awl!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn0CxkDwQeQAPYsT7dFiCqfJvNdhuPknCt_cZKPYvmhCFdc5ipKd9-xvApEAboV5dhw574aSX5FMt_A9zIqwqO9C1QUQfpVUm6FxNS5AKeAVSZaQXgWj4UUC1WSaBax7RenEmDL2M_cpfc/s1600/IMG_3538a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn0CxkDwQeQAPYsT7dFiCqfJvNdhuPknCt_cZKPYvmhCFdc5ipKd9-xvApEAboV5dhw574aSX5FMt_A9zIqwqO9C1QUQfpVUm6FxNS5AKeAVSZaQXgWj4UUC1WSaBax7RenEmDL2M_cpfc/s320/IMG_3538a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I got quite a pile of basting threads! </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi43DAu9DeMKHXIiEqaDK_G7Ev_4hRwJjh7RH3yGZIFe2UcqwAXeyZwFnujSVJBdc-_ae5XwWn0CsuJo4Zkk83jxX8RC0VYdV8B9CucZcrVG-ul_P7jbEFY24dXS6yVZ5V5aBU8uTP97tY7/s1600/IMG_3539a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi43DAu9DeMKHXIiEqaDK_G7Ev_4hRwJjh7RH3yGZIFe2UcqwAXeyZwFnujSVJBdc-_ae5XwWn0CsuJo4Zkk83jxX8RC0VYdV8B9CucZcrVG-ul_P7jbEFY24dXS6yVZ5V5aBU8uTP97tY7/s320/IMG_3539a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The curved awl makes it really easy to reach in and pull out the papers!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRwHGxmRg1NujHdou-obOdZ-X_ye2q4-uactioFYYIDPOjXtJKtqAPAwBwlMOgG0XydB5N3o5FPqpxcmk3QmBaoqptmmubmY_JYoVm31QDurT1Q2YWiJDgiN1xhlslMXal591-dDorR3wr/s1600/IMG_3540a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRwHGxmRg1NujHdou-obOdZ-X_ye2q4-uactioFYYIDPOjXtJKtqAPAwBwlMOgG0XydB5N3o5FPqpxcmk3QmBaoqptmmubmY_JYoVm31QDurT1Q2YWiJDgiN1xhlslMXal591-dDorR3wr/s320/IMG_3540a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am almost done!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCHxZAOthvWGxaB30nDDS0cp1eofaI40S7d6Pt2CKB1y0RsxBpn_NQ5tkzJRXE8PthZ2PEgfJPg3o66QuMIh7SsWjUS9foQRqxDE1YtuFyazWpyHo4mo9m78iuy0wk_KP652jJqOTq0eBE/s1600/IMG_3542a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCHxZAOthvWGxaB30nDDS0cp1eofaI40S7d6Pt2CKB1y0RsxBpn_NQ5tkzJRXE8PthZ2PEgfJPg3o66QuMIh7SsWjUS9foQRqxDE1YtuFyazWpyHo4mo9m78iuy0wk_KP652jJqOTq0eBE/s320/IMG_3542a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This week I have a bit of time at home so I will finish getting the papers all out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next step after that is to give it one more pressing, first from the back and then the front. Then I'll get it basted and ready for quilting! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is going to fit perfectly on my coffee table and I can't wait to start enjoying it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching!</div>

MAKE NOTES!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That is the lesson. I stopped quilting the pineapple quilt months ago because my old machine's tension and stitch length were all over the place but I didn't make any notes for myself.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first thing is I often lightly and sometimes more heavily spray starch the backing and top if I am going to machine quilt. I just was so excited to jump back into basting that I didn't even stop to think if those steps had been taken. As I was quilting the first panel I realized no... I could tell by the stretching of my backing that it was not starched enough. Then I had to decide...do I take it apart and re-baste? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Nope! This quilt is for my bed. It will be used and jumped on and abused and regardless if things are a bit wavy here or there or stretched out a bit that is OK. I am still going to love it. It was never meant to be a masterpiece. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I got the first panels all put together and the strip on the back hiding the seam sewn down, flipped it over and realized the quilting doesn't look the same in the centers where the blocks meet. That was another note I should have made. Obviously looking at it I decided to add one more line of quilting in the corners of each block and only managed to do a few of the blocks that way. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I will have to go back and add a few short quilting lines after I give those seams a good pressing.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The quilt is close to getting finished and I can't wait to sleep under it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I started thinking about the next UFO. I had pieced together a bunch of tumbler blocks from my favorite Aunt Sharon and I had a vision. Make them into a strippy quilt. Well time has changed my mind quite accidentally. I was laying a few strips out on the floor to look at them and measure them to get a sense of size. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK6TsOXATs3n8lwpkk4D_i_YRh31yRMD_1dYRpIsztHfW4_MOh5lou_MBsYFkLzuF9FRrkg6pI9PPmZsYeo14B_8Y4Oc3mbXqbxyvpJDazVTODXAkhrET65le-2Za8uPfn-OwzVdAdmN_h/s1600/layout+tumblera.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="709" data-original-width="1600" height="175" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK6TsOXATs3n8lwpkk4D_i_YRh31yRMD_1dYRpIsztHfW4_MOh5lou_MBsYFkLzuF9FRrkg6pI9PPmZsYeo14B_8Y4Oc3mbXqbxyvpJDazVTODXAkhrET65le-2Za8uPfn-OwzVdAdmN_h/s400/layout+tumblera.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I thought, I like that. So plan B was born- I took 5 tumblers off the end of each strip. That will give me 2 more rows of tumblers. Sew them together as is lining up centers and add wide borders to top and bottom only to make a nice lap size/ napping quilt. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That will be the next UFO I tackle. I want to piece the top but the actual quilting will wait until after Christmas. I have a couple small projects that will take up my time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wonder how many people make notes if they put a project away for a while? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching! </div>

My scrappy pineapple is on the go again! It is Thanksgiving weekend here and we were supposed to be visiting my Dad but my mister had other ideas. The common cold has kept us home. So... I thought I had better take advantage of such an opportunity and start work on that UFO pile! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I piled up all the sections from the pineapple quilt- only 2 sections left to quilt now. This is my first and LAST quilt as you go...at least using this technique. Yes it is certainly easier to wrestle the quilt in the machine but it seems that it is never ending. And then I still have to sew all the pieces together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Enough whining! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am going to love it when its done and on my bed. It will be cozy and warm with the wool batting and I am enjoying the quilting process. </div>

Dear Blog, I am very sorry for the neglect of the last 6+ months. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It all started with a sewing machine that was giving me a lot of trouble. It went into the repair shop because it had a burning smell. They could not find anything so they did a cleaning. It came back with horrible tension. I have been sewing a long time and I know my way around my tension. I tried all my regular needle types and all my regular thread. It went back to the repair shop and they said the tension was fine. It wasn't. It was a bit better but still not even good. After a lot of frustration I found a thread wrapped around the arm that feeds the thread up and down and was able to get tweezers in there and unwind it. After that it was better but my tension never got great and the motor was whining every time I used it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was well used...more than a lot of sewing machines. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally one day I had enough...and brought home a new baby. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzmM-TrAgGBKnq5DZZKIkFiGTEEiBcjjSQbN33NA7p5ViWcQFWe_3OBZRncMOZC5l6JYr0O-qzsgmAfZCLLH-ubptuFyJlWJqoEBXLGpFoG6PO0JI6PgvKAufdZ0tT-k-nzXeoCtfvCr0v/s1600/IMG_3527a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzmM-TrAgGBKnq5DZZKIkFiGTEEiBcjjSQbN33NA7p5ViWcQFWe_3OBZRncMOZC5l6JYr0O-qzsgmAfZCLLH-ubptuFyJlWJqoEBXLGpFoG6PO0JI6PgvKAufdZ0tT-k-nzXeoCtfvCr0v/s320/IMG_3527a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love it! No tension issues and sews like a dream! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hopefully it will give me many years of happy sewing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At the same time as this, I have been just taking a bit of a break from the internet in general. But I have been missing this blog. I enjoy sharing and it is a wonderful record of all I've done. I have also been missing the blogs I always have followed so I am back to reading those as well. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That whole adventure got me out of my sewing room a bit and got the UFO's piling up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6gBdTlsVTzeyqoQv75A8jNO1trwds1E0my-aJITwQE_QoX6qmgFbiBdwbv54cfptKvZZXTyQg4O4V5LYfDkiaxkOwG0qbw57ig2Bh2ct-Js4sZoT963nJsecU7FK3kf38U3b6NCqFS62l/s1600/IMG_3517a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6gBdTlsVTzeyqoQv75A8jNO1trwds1E0my-aJITwQE_QoX6qmgFbiBdwbv54cfptKvZZXTyQg4O4V5LYfDkiaxkOwG0qbw57ig2Bh2ct-Js4sZoT963nJsecU7FK3kf38U3b6NCqFS62l/s320/IMG_3517a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are 11 UFO's on this pile and that does not include the Dear Jane quilt I started and I am sure I will find a couple more hiding.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now that I have piled them up I am going to start working on each one until it's finished. A few are longer term projects so I will focus on the short term ones first.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did finish this little knitted toy for a Christmas gift! ( Yes I am already making Christmas gifts)</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mchenry" target="_blank">McHenry</a>- a pattern from Susan B. Anderson It is about 6" high and so cute! He even has a spot on his back and a little tail.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And this <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mini-girl-bunny-and-bear" target="_blank">sweet little bunny</a> was a pattern from Julie Williams. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was a birthday gift for a very little girl. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first thing she did was put it in her mouth so I think it was a hit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I finished a baby quilt- this was a kit from Moda. The flannels are so soft. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgICHOSBj-g192tVLYqcql7fcDOJnLX97G0ur_que-qllG561dPq05wSEQC2TdsheTIOR5Ep0pLIV8tFoLPnes7DJmTo7_FY323UjcjYfLV1Dj00CjMKBFPJN6K_IqLq8WpydXUGwBx31Cd/s1600/heart+quilta.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1597" data-original-width="1600" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgICHOSBj-g192tVLYqcql7fcDOJnLX97G0ur_que-qllG561dPq05wSEQC2TdsheTIOR5Ep0pLIV8tFoLPnes7DJmTo7_FY323UjcjYfLV1Dj00CjMKBFPJN6K_IqLq8WpydXUGwBx31Cd/s320/heart+quilta.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There was enough left over from the kit to make this quilt below that I sent to the baby's grandmother to have while her first grandchild visited her! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have made several of these heart quilts from a free pattern on line. I have not been able to find the link again but if I do, I will share. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And finally, I had some extra time so I basted the last 3 sections of my pineapple quilt. Here are two of sections. I was wanting it done before the snow came but I am too late. We have already had snow twice here in Saskatchewan. </div>

This was the project that broke my old sewing machine!</div>

I was heading to my dad's the other day for a visit and winter made me turn around and come home. There was near zero visibility at times. I have been lucky this winter that the weather has co-operated up until February. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So this unexpected time at home made me think it was the perfect time to start some quilt basting.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I set up my tables and got busy. I pin basted the next three sections for my pineapple quilt ( I still have two sections left but ran out of safety pins.) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinW6WKK9kvD7DayeWAIVuiiWSNGVdPJtdyZ7Uogfi7HyAPAhvVr1kiovD14xCKzqQOlyQsrzhXi_eSias2SNVz7g_-vwqvhfE_k0Ra9TKjUh7HbhOzSa1aKqJd8jUqcRozscCSvT1l97zz/s1600/IMG_3480a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinW6WKK9kvD7DayeWAIVuiiWSNGVdPJtdyZ7Uogfi7HyAPAhvVr1kiovD14xCKzqQOlyQsrzhXi_eSias2SNVz7g_-vwqvhfE_k0Ra9TKjUh7HbhOzSa1aKqJd8jUqcRozscCSvT1l97zz/s320/IMG_3480a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I thread basted my jelly roll nine patch for big stitching. The picture does not do it justice! It is going to finish close to 60" x 72". It almost didn't fit on my table!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-ipEtSfkk0wfOq2PxVictzkVKsHgNZ5NOeaYNdaN-9VCIYDnwB0Md6gRv5NFgfh-tvs4BUbIrujcOWsmtOQWvAmh8oDjbtnN6U8SruPhTRjCti-6b5f_OT9mO5txkhmsNoAaOui9OORn9/s1600/IMG_3485a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-ipEtSfkk0wfOq2PxVictzkVKsHgNZ5NOeaYNdaN-9VCIYDnwB0Md6gRv5NFgfh-tvs4BUbIrujcOWsmtOQWvAmh8oDjbtnN6U8SruPhTRjCti-6b5f_OT9mO5txkhmsNoAaOui9OORn9/s320/IMG_3485a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After I had it basted I previewed a couple of quilting stencils I had. I am wanting an all over pattern in the center and a different border. Here is one idea but I'm also thinking feathers may be fun. I'm not sure with big stitch if the pattern will be effective with feathers though. The feathers will probably have to be a bit larger.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguQy4VcVH7aOtRYKca-hRB_ybRkCX64TPeI4gVybRZPJVaoLJM1Ht7CBcZ0eZCyT7uOMjJpFgasOYG9HWJ_7m2jyiAXGQUpBdfbWPFBvoCSjj2zP51g25JwObbi_JdRALz3_QpgbKxoslD/s1600/IMG_3489a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguQy4VcVH7aOtRYKca-hRB_ybRkCX64TPeI4gVybRZPJVaoLJM1Ht7CBcZ0eZCyT7uOMjJpFgasOYG9HWJ_7m2jyiAXGQUpBdfbWPFBvoCSjj2zP51g25JwObbi_JdRALz3_QpgbKxoslD/s320/IMG_3489a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also finished sewing the tumblers together in long strips. I'll be alternating them with solid strips. I have to play in my stash a bit to see what color I would like. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Ips68SkMFTf59smj3tVNlJcWctlVyJDGkxLlMF1S_eXSWIUCWLAhVcafl1OioKRVY5YuSjWBhCKbLuWnOriqZiNIeEr-svaIni2kIINNULW8jKN2G9SPuPkg5G3scGfYIgVw3KrDmRnf/s1600/IMG_3466a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1568" data-original-width="875" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Ips68SkMFTf59smj3tVNlJcWctlVyJDGkxLlMF1S_eXSWIUCWLAhVcafl1OioKRVY5YuSjWBhCKbLuWnOriqZiNIeEr-svaIni2kIINNULW8jKN2G9SPuPkg5G3scGfYIgVw3KrDmRnf/s320/IMG_3466a.jpg" width="177" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I started a new pair of socks. I've been knitting almost every morning lately while I have my morning coffee. I am finding it quite relaxing and enjoyable. This colorway is beautiful- it looks like stormy day. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCKT2GtA6Z5F9ngvVEaLb_XudgfHSUtbeEjyhCa7ksVCaUdLj55nRyYRRqxEKxnKrFS3ScPKYmM9S7mms-h3xyCFjTnYnKtJ9DtwZPvcxzKTPjvDogTkj1W0dvkjhehFjtl_wB4jWsZMpl/s1600/IMG_3491a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCKT2GtA6Z5F9ngvVEaLb_XudgfHSUtbeEjyhCa7ksVCaUdLj55nRyYRRqxEKxnKrFS3ScPKYmM9S7mms-h3xyCFjTnYnKtJ9DtwZPvcxzKTPjvDogTkj1W0dvkjhehFjtl_wB4jWsZMpl/s320/IMG_3491a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now I have to go find my thimble and big stitch needles!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The last couple years I have been trying to use up older fabrics and supplies- in other words try to use what I have before buying what I want. There will always be something great and new around the corner and I live in a condo so I don't have unlimited space! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One of my latest projects was to use up an old jelly roll from 5 or 6 years ago. I had loved it once but not anymore. I decided it would be perfect for gifting so I just starting making easy nine patch blocks. When they were done I went through my stash and picked out fabrics looked good with the colors from the jelly roll and then I started putting it together. ( It still needs a good pressing!)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPYkxKDGezr1OIML2Emw545-xsY9sKO2OKGZ4O_co9g4KPZRNA5fnF_1Fv24gFrw_y-PFlM2Zrm3ctGl8YfMyVw9-Nd_Ca5aDzAvAd9L-hzg4R_OVYET5ro5OZ53h0DBV03UeJ9bnkm531/s1600/IMG_3476a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPYkxKDGezr1OIML2Emw545-xsY9sKO2OKGZ4O_co9g4KPZRNA5fnF_1Fv24gFrw_y-PFlM2Zrm3ctGl8YfMyVw9-Nd_Ca5aDzAvAd9L-hzg4R_OVYET5ro5OZ53h0DBV03UeJ9bnkm531/s320/IMG_3476a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I often think about how I am going to quilt a project as I am sewing and this one was no different.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
About half way through piecing the top, all of a sudden it hit me that I COULD NOT machine quilt this quilt and I COULD NOT give it to anyone but me! I was smitten...in love...and I couldn't wait to get started quilting it by hand. I decided to big stitch it and with the same idea of using up things, I found spools of old thick Mettler thread which I believe is cotton in my thread stash. It will be perfect for big stitching but I just don't have enough to do the whole quilt in one color so I picked out all the colors that complimented the quilt. I am so excited to get this basted but it will probably not be for a couple of weeks. I am putting in extra hours at work for the next while so I don't have as much free time as I am used to. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCLCseynQEyZIODPOuuSF6oKJc323QrPXVMwh6IpV4oN6n2o3TDIWLJQ1mG77McnPlkgtSBe13AfJ_KYyLAz5RQ6W2O_CRxHtfLY2FBuabC3ZNU6zY0vpFt7oh6wLElkLRsp9q9VMjh3Bu/s1600/IMG_3479a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCLCseynQEyZIODPOuuSF6oKJc323QrPXVMwh6IpV4oN6n2o3TDIWLJQ1mG77McnPlkgtSBe13AfJ_KYyLAz5RQ6W2O_CRxHtfLY2FBuabC3ZNU6zY0vpFt7oh6wLElkLRsp9q9VMjh3Bu/s320/IMG_3479a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have also started machine quilting sections of a large pineapple quilt. These first sections are about 28" square. I have 4 of them done. Next I will be quilting sections that are 2x3 blocks. I have 4 of those. I'm using a wool batting that is a little puffier than I am used to but this will be a wonderful cozy quilt for my bed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGRLyuLjekU1o0ObiS9mBNS_lptaM3QM0AOAbZHBeoyHqpGax5nOc5Gmev9M5Zarb_4T5c_rvZ-N5cISewn6XCME1KIP_Ljhvt8fnmksbRX0KbkUnWzxGzKvVljL-UEyMz8KSbnDbphOj_/s1600/IMG_3469a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1082" data-original-width="1082" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGRLyuLjekU1o0ObiS9mBNS_lptaM3QM0AOAbZHBeoyHqpGax5nOc5Gmev9M5Zarb_4T5c_rvZ-N5cISewn6XCME1KIP_Ljhvt8fnmksbRX0KbkUnWzxGzKvVljL-UEyMz8KSbnDbphOj_/s320/IMG_3469a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't know whether it is that it is winter, but I have been knitting more than usual lately. I just finished a new pair of socks. My LWS, <a href="https://www.thenakedsheepshop.com/" target="_blank">The Naked Sheep Yarn and Fibre Emporium</a> has a fun monthly sock knitting challenge and in February the theme was of course all about hearts. I picked up some beautiful hand dyed wool in a color that was somewhat love like and got going...here they are. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOr4hPUrBt-f4Mn0oQtcf947o6Fyln2gECyJ8aumMd741PU0qAf7wZaAbcrWprv0WuvkEwYNAVtBzzXxxm66aUplpqAoSbAuIqQzSuTNY1ynlBIQy9qVNxfUaSm-eELPiGof3okudq35tV/s1600/IMG_3471a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOr4hPUrBt-f4Mn0oQtcf947o6Fyln2gECyJ8aumMd741PU0qAf7wZaAbcrWprv0WuvkEwYNAVtBzzXxxm66aUplpqAoSbAuIqQzSuTNY1ynlBIQy9qVNxfUaSm-eELPiGof3okudq35tV/s320/IMG_3471a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: center;">The pattern is Diagonal Lace Sock and the wool is from Dye for Ewe and it is so soft. I usually do not not indulge in such expensive wool for socks but I know my feet will LOVE these!</span></div>
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6gdgbcf0sYYPd0l6kVl2d6G0KYSYOjkT-UPO_RXZOuOU24bHM8Waj_SIrETnDcKBgu7jYSjpk1WS5ht-7sfuHzp-PNZSFXypDheLnx7Lj0SQzf_OnwOzFNtt8R8ddVjXIbKfmhiH616Md/s1600/IMG_3472a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6gdgbcf0sYYPd0l6kVl2d6G0KYSYOjkT-UPO_RXZOuOU24bHM8Waj_SIrETnDcKBgu7jYSjpk1WS5ht-7sfuHzp-PNZSFXypDheLnx7Lj0SQzf_OnwOzFNtt8R8ddVjXIbKfmhiH616Md/s320/IMG_3472a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have 2 days off now so I am going to use them to make backings for all these projects I want to get quilting!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching!</div>

I have been slowly bringing out UFO's to work on and get done. So right now I have 5 projects on the go and soon to be 6 ( I need a new 'going to my dad's project' to work on).</div>
<br />
<ul>
<li style="text-align: left;">Dear Jane</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Civil War Bride Quilt</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Scrappy Tumblers ( a story for this one)</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Use up a Jelly Roll project</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Quilt as you go Pineapple quilt</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Dear Jane and the Civil War Bride are both long term projects. I have a few new blocks to show. The Dear Jane has 4 more blocks done and about 12 printed for prepping. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am using the Dear Jane software from EQ. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And one more block is done for the Civil War Bride quilt, with two more blocks started. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They are still in the prep stage! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLSVJtNB6XqJbgRFqLRcxPecGm8aOUVm4NQ0sI5BTtM4RN7Dq0Ko7Mp3CqEuyZo2ACeuLScayHmIuAw6c9BYaHdkkkaQtuk91U_DIHBMqbTBeS2G-5lZ4NaBgDECSZUYsb8lSmrnuNBzfb/s1600/IMG_3459a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLSVJtNB6XqJbgRFqLRcxPecGm8aOUVm4NQ0sI5BTtM4RN7Dq0Ko7Mp3CqEuyZo2ACeuLScayHmIuAw6c9BYaHdkkkaQtuk91U_DIHBMqbTBeS2G-5lZ4NaBgDECSZUYsb8lSmrnuNBzfb/s320/IMG_3459a.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The scrappy tumblers were a surprise from my favorite quilter (aka my Aunt Sharon!) Her and her friends had gotten together and cut a bunch of tumblers with the accuquilt. She sent me a bag full, some were pieced in groups of two and some were just singles still. I have them all pressed and ready to sew! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">It is so much fun playing with other peoples scraps!!!!!</span></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7nTx21u6sJ-LqFytpnnTZ1UVj3f03b7aX9LOiuoZRYdG2OIWie-3Mj7Li8NztmY9u6cN362M2ndOPQbOe3EeXWZxqIZBVIzmympVtomCosBzhwrvSjp640oaU_5dSQ848HwBSwmtIuYMl/s1600/IMG_3461a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7nTx21u6sJ-LqFytpnnTZ1UVj3f03b7aX9LOiuoZRYdG2OIWie-3Mj7Li8NztmY9u6cN362M2ndOPQbOe3EeXWZxqIZBVIzmympVtomCosBzhwrvSjp640oaU_5dSQ848HwBSwmtIuYMl/s320/IMG_3461a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm lifting part of my sewing room floor in the next while because I have a major squeak. I don't know yet if it is the laminate or the sub floor. I am preparing for the worst and setting myself up to sew in the dining room for a while. This tumbler quilt will be perfect for working on while my sewing room is mostly out of commission!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also have an old jellyroll - you know one of those that you look at and wonder "What was I thinking that day!" Well I saw a nine patch variation on Pinterest and it gave me an idea. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I am going to start that too! Photos to follow...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am also going to start quilting my pineapple blocks. The quilt is going to be way to big to work on the whole thing so I decided to try a quilt as you go. Instead of doing individual blocks , I am going to put them together 2x2 and see how that goes. I plan to use up some old fabrics for the backing so might have to do some piecing to get large enough ( I need about 32" square).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And finally, my favorite Aunt Sharon also sent me a cute little Christmas project to embroider...it just has to be framed. It was so much fun - all pre-printed!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicYgiO7OpNylweLiF0Vz_i4_-UjteFMbhgeQqeINX487DE2XtVhxXcK-MEgcznuQCYi-Alo57zwpb0a0gPMnBlLVCfUmmwmlks8WGeUvf2pHKNCNer7o-wg9e-T_CGhVPZ_j0BvVYKIky_/s1600/IMG_3460a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1530" data-original-width="1166" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicYgiO7OpNylweLiF0Vz_i4_-UjteFMbhgeQqeINX487DE2XtVhxXcK-MEgcznuQCYi-Alo57zwpb0a0gPMnBlLVCfUmmwmlks8WGeUvf2pHKNCNer7o-wg9e-T_CGhVPZ_j0BvVYKIky_/s320/IMG_3460a.jpg" width="243" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'll wait until Christmas though so I can see it there are any cute Christmas frames available! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It fits into an 8x10 frame.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

For almost 20 years I've been thinking about making the Dear Jane quilt. In all that time I could never make a final decision about what fabrics to use- I have thought about blue and white, red and white, reproduction, scrappy, all neutrals... and I have just never been able to make up my mind...until now. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are the two fabrics that are my inspiration!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_yBTqJg45KWJbFYicQglgVkUv6Bq_0vWEIJHN-Y5T_Gc49qs_wqZ6y6Ie1Zg3PnfvrDbdWpeVp_nh1HG1Yi-woGs2iiQGuMzu0ddLCLDD0MmwIVjzTY_S-O9vVtqHVC99mUJYGXU2-p5m/s1600/IMG_3445a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="970" data-original-width="1385" height="224" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_yBTqJg45KWJbFYicQglgVkUv6Bq_0vWEIJHN-Y5T_Gc49qs_wqZ6y6Ie1Zg3PnfvrDbdWpeVp_nh1HG1Yi-woGs2iiQGuMzu0ddLCLDD0MmwIVjzTY_S-O9vVtqHVC99mUJYGXU2-p5m/s320/IMG_3445a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I debated size. I was thinking what a great challenge it would be to shrink those blocks from 4-1/2" to 3"! I've seen a few photos of a smaller sized Dear Jane and have loved them! But once I finally made a decision on fabrics I decided to do it in full size and I am going to quilt it as I go. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think the challenge will just be to get it done! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So 2019 will be my Year of Jane! And I made a bit of a head start.. here are the first 9.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeTPXB_CQLFtcTBLK3oqovnM50JiSuQYWoWdWjYHU3R0OQ9TH7OI0CUMu-YEXOszU1C97aas9qe3QpiPCWoblnnI5-h3Ri-0HsWtGvtvaVvqQVWek-dJonA9jONcPbnYV4KBMAOrzbakRM/s1600/IMG_3440a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="811" data-original-width="1137" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeTPXB_CQLFtcTBLK3oqovnM50JiSuQYWoWdWjYHU3R0OQ9TH7OI0CUMu-YEXOszU1C97aas9qe3QpiPCWoblnnI5-h3Ri-0HsWtGvtvaVvqQVWek-dJonA9jONcPbnYV4KBMAOrzbakRM/s320/IMG_3440a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have 4 more prepped that just need appliques added but I'll show them later.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I have been debating joining the annual American Patchwork and Quilting UFO challenge...I have a few. I thought maybe it will inspire me to work on some of those things I have tucked away. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This week I will start making my list of UFO's. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The rest of my week is the quiet before storm so to speak! Our first Christmas dinner is on Saturday but I am all done so I can spend the rest of the week playing!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Merry Christmas Stitchers! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

I've got just one more gift to make and one that is mostly finished to get done! It's been a busy month but I have still found the time to play a bit just for me in my sewing room! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I spend a few nights with my dad every second week or so and I always have a project to work on. After the last hexagon project, I got working on finishing some bindings while visiting him and then I got working on my Christmas socks!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is a little baby quilt I finished! It is made with flannel on the top and bottom so it is soft and cuddly! The soon to be parents love it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF8qvWIG9XAO5QyhW_5xBXXCJILQFL5z1gf_jcq69XIDIuHy2S-J51NoY4Y8VA9fZFirQ2VvoTQfHjS4sTY9a7OPMxzU9-lTG8QRW591Q66mSWPPEnWi2xExIUx20_D2bQh2LtWLa63Vyt/s1600/IMG_3419a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1379" data-original-width="1133" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF8qvWIG9XAO5QyhW_5xBXXCJILQFL5z1gf_jcq69XIDIuHy2S-J51NoY4Y8VA9fZFirQ2VvoTQfHjS4sTY9a7OPMxzU9-lTG8QRW591Q66mSWPPEnWi2xExIUx20_D2bQh2LtWLa63Vyt/s320/IMG_3419a.jpg" width="263" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Christmas socks are finished! While knitting the first sock I decided not to worry about the striping pattern matching and look what happened!!! They matched without trying!!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That never happens if you want it to match...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ4Z954kCHE7ZdtCYppUiIVAD6yygl4o9B2ZRXufIXTnq1XjNezcOr3reHEEM_gWtWMHr2uRI4b3SyyXoTh9Aqygc38D_TinLXyxE2GG0jmMI4hWPEYbTdkZJYOB_aGQG6G3NDL2aIajjf/s1600/IMG_3438a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ4Z954kCHE7ZdtCYppUiIVAD6yygl4o9B2ZRXufIXTnq1XjNezcOr3reHEEM_gWtWMHr2uRI4b3SyyXoTh9Aqygc38D_TinLXyxE2GG0jmMI4hWPEYbTdkZJYOB_aGQG6G3NDL2aIajjf/s320/IMG_3438a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So now I need a new hand project to work on while staying with my dad. In my quest to use things I have I decided to use some of my wool. I only have a very small container with wool and very limited colors but I wanted to use it up so I decided to work on some Little Wooly basket blocks from a Linen Closet BOM I had downloaded a few years ago. The little basket blocks are just 6" square. I prepped the first 6 blocks and I'll use my time with my dad to stitch them down. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The photo doesn't do it justice! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4C2qYtosrS7PshatMBHoDnfx_cEwLC25k8rFv5RWTImsuB03s0Wkm7V6OUJuILkqqLS-TwgMCGAQgwkHLuoZ3FbwAqrOULVyTMqokWvtcKEzU_PcyX3fSOKGnulGtnIFiMdcMcN0ydvXZ/s1600/IMG_3435a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1016" data-original-width="1404" height="231" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4C2qYtosrS7PshatMBHoDnfx_cEwLC25k8rFv5RWTImsuB03s0Wkm7V6OUJuILkqqLS-TwgMCGAQgwkHLuoZ3FbwAqrOULVyTMqokWvtcKEzU_PcyX3fSOKGnulGtnIFiMdcMcN0ydvXZ/s320/IMG_3435a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While I was looking for other things, I found these leftover fabrics from another project and was just in the mood to do something different and fast so I made a few pincushions! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkwj1WhcPlA0_pMBhQ3pH7OyJwhodlwJmTk40FpXj2P8Izs8gPqCBjIBHNvP1VaUJ9c5l-TgsLe-Md2wayQL4fjrmphtRLRtPkOPo0bviCNR2lU0Gx6udhPxRlXZIrRPQu9ISJegC3L5BY/s1600/IMG_3430a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="696" data-original-width="1464" height="151" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkwj1WhcPlA0_pMBhQ3pH7OyJwhodlwJmTk40FpXj2P8Izs8gPqCBjIBHNvP1VaUJ9c5l-TgsLe-Md2wayQL4fjrmphtRLRtPkOPo0bviCNR2lU0Gx6udhPxRlXZIrRPQu9ISJegC3L5BY/s320/IMG_3430a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also finished off some needle punch projects. I was originally thinking I would frame them (there are actually 2 angels and 3 snowmen) but that was a lot of frames so I decided to just back them and add hangers. They will eventually be sent to some people I know will love them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also made my own cording with some perle cotton I had to finish off the edges.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have a Cricut Maker so I have been cutting a few iron on things to make for gifts. These I can show because I am fairly confident the receivers will never look at my blog!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

This book bag is for a reader and library user! I know she will love it! </div>

The 49 large pineapple blocks I've been piecing are done! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqelAFqyuNdyvVV-ejlY-lEEsfWGlIUHPtakzz3NHSVGzY0FMYwDqcEVrXLpuShB58klGVus_w_09-hwyo4bkhaekZbioCwdCAM6uGvsNFAm9AvKH5HQwqRUEtXCma_7r77wUok7n5p0xA/s1600/IMG_3409a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqelAFqyuNdyvVV-ejlY-lEEsfWGlIUHPtakzz3NHSVGzY0FMYwDqcEVrXLpuShB58klGVus_w_09-hwyo4bkhaekZbioCwdCAM6uGvsNFAm9AvKH5HQwqRUEtXCma_7r77wUok7n5p0xA/s320/IMG_3409a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am going to love them when I get them put together in a quilt top. The quilt is going to finish at about 100" square and I plan to use a wool batting so it will be warm and cozy. I have decided to quilt this myself and I am going to try a Quilt as You Go technique. For my first go at QAYG, I thought I would keep the quilting simple - just in the ditch perhaps. Time to learn about it...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For now though the blocks are going to go away because it is time to get going on a few Christmas gifts- Christmas is less than 6 weeks away now! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching!</div>

Yes I am procrastinating making Christmas gifts. I'm not sure why this year I am having difficulties getting at it because usually I dive right in! I normally LOVE making Christmas gifts. I don't even have much I'm planning to make!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But my procrastinating has led me back to an old UFO that I am now obsessing about. It is a large scrappy Pineapple quilt. I'm making 49 -14" blocks. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9SzFJPvVlxMbVjF7CKjJrX3zoGWZfstLXxjR_qR2mkWzQ6b57D5Q-gG5LnfhJVm7yWQStlHgY-bXmSic-SciVd4Ee51EUhyP-HBE61RvOGRbsH4EbVxPv5vm6n0xARtEWK99gdDIUg1s1/s1600/IMG_3406a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="912" data-original-width="1591" height="183" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9SzFJPvVlxMbVjF7CKjJrX3zoGWZfstLXxjR_qR2mkWzQ6b57D5Q-gG5LnfhJVm7yWQStlHgY-bXmSic-SciVd4Ee51EUhyP-HBE61RvOGRbsH4EbVxPv5vm6n0xARtEWK99gdDIUg1s1/s320/IMG_3406a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now that I am back at it I am sewing every spare chance I get like a crazy obsessed person. I have the next two days off so I know where I will be - in my sewing room!!!! In fact I should have taken a new picture - there are a few more rows added on since this one was taken! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB7mhFYGA_vYPHObFwER51If5ScLO7N8asQSULPhIoufqHz7W0GKFiuuBHaHsnBRsNR0wWAurLZeiK3ZthJ8gQGkj8EkwyNmYSmiYk0TEroq4Ksglb3OjJM-2PTy3UgHF7Is6Hb9Tp7hkV/s1600/IMG_3405a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="1426" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB7mhFYGA_vYPHObFwER51If5ScLO7N8asQSULPhIoufqHz7W0GKFiuuBHaHsnBRsNR0wWAurLZeiK3ZthJ8gQGkj8EkwyNmYSmiYk0TEroq4Ksglb3OjJM-2PTy3UgHF7Is6Hb9Tp7hkV/s320/IMG_3405a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And finally I have back my sewing machine. When I first got it back the tension wasn't right so back it went to the shop the next day. I tried four different threads, 4 different bobbins and a couple different needles. Nothing helped. They couldn't find any issues????? So home it came and in the first couple inches my thread breaks. So I got out my flashlight and followed the thread path. And there wrapped around the thread take up was a small clump of white thread. What in the world???I was using grey thread so it wasn't mine and I have certainly never seen that happen. I was able to get it unwound with tweezers. My tension has been OK since then but that was a frustrating experience! I miss my old mechanical machine that I could service myself! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching! </div>

Sometimes you do something and afterwards you think "Why didn't I think of that?"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been trying a new ways to machine applique. I prefer hand applique but since that is a little hard on my hands now I have been playing with different types of machine applique. I much prefer turned edges so I have tried the apliquick method for this block. I like it except....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirzM61o4YJXWgH91668xXL-SoDUaj4uYtCfRUIvmV-sbCmyclQNGqSkUVZRSLVLzaXNt98xTE6qBF9ipV4o4IVfh-er6l3jsJQfgXHgpoeGw9A-KGAui_OBfLj6XIrKErHGQvQYFObEeYC/s1600/IMG_3398a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirzM61o4YJXWgH91668xXL-SoDUaj4uYtCfRUIvmV-sbCmyclQNGqSkUVZRSLVLzaXNt98xTE6qBF9ipV4o4IVfh-er6l3jsJQfgXHgpoeGw9A-KGAui_OBfLj6XIrKErHGQvQYFObEeYC/s320/IMG_3398a.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was glue basting my pieces down...I had my light box , the paper pattern and then the background. Here is what happened when I lifted the glue basted block off the paper...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkPVeQ5FMAAlp-AfAgX-TJ-9kf2z6bSzi1jYJDnRun7OHFORBJm_zI1Y-JI5iCfqlggfZkpPlArhWbG72nMZeyLgLgIB-6stUE1M9h5ZtV1v8tGclHXpogaAF-W88__iMlmiQmgV8uHTl1/s1600/IMG_3396a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkPVeQ5FMAAlp-AfAgX-TJ-9kf2z6bSzi1jYJDnRun7OHFORBJm_zI1Y-JI5iCfqlggfZkpPlArhWbG72nMZeyLgLgIB-6stUE1M9h5ZtV1v8tGclHXpogaAF-W88__iMlmiQmgV8uHTl1/s200/IMG_3396a.jpg" width="150" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRxCy415UKil2DdmXPGhzHYKjct27ItO8ubv2XtTvgSLgQuuz4Q_DXLbVSFwAXACn0jFiJk_H7rpdXQID-brm-A7zLbO_Z9JwzEK-h3cxAQr54EQsq6SrOn0dDPRTkGXuuFsbI1crRBpLe/s1600/IMG_3397a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRxCy415UKil2DdmXPGhzHYKjct27ItO8ubv2XtTvgSLgQuuz4Q_DXLbVSFwAXACn0jFiJk_H7rpdXQID-brm-A7zLbO_Z9JwzEK-h3cxAQr54EQsq6SrOn0dDPRTkGXuuFsbI1crRBpLe/s200/IMG_3397a.jpg" width="150" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It stuck!!!! Yes, glue can go through your background! I never thought of using some kind of barrier in between. I am thinking I'll try press and seal on my paper pattern for my next block. What do other people do?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I do have a couple finishes too ! This little fall quilt is finally finished. I had been wanting to big stitch it hoping my hands would be able to do that for such a small quilt but no. This is the little quilt that sent my sewing machine to the shop but I finished it on my spare machine and finished the binding this week. It is almost a little late for fall now. We are quickly slipping into winter.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5eiQ3SBsJPK7_u_tfvSlcaFsaRAgTKhGMZwoJsjV74Kq3bOyymuc7Qq6tvJQXm2nNPjQC6CAlMDQ4K-eQJGKB_jt1ohMq3arSEZW4ht4bS2TZV0Jdt4IiuAfxJuPGa-hI9ls1lUdh_NYv/s1600/IMG_3400a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1063" data-original-width="1068" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5eiQ3SBsJPK7_u_tfvSlcaFsaRAgTKhGMZwoJsjV74Kq3bOyymuc7Qq6tvJQXm2nNPjQC6CAlMDQ4K-eQJGKB_jt1ohMq3arSEZW4ht4bS2TZV0Jdt4IiuAfxJuPGa-hI9ls1lUdh_NYv/s320/IMG_3400a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My hexagons are pieced! Now I just have to take all those 3/8" paper out! Once I get at it it won't take long but I'll have to be in the mood! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmE0AmMK2c7zt9JE5N1q5c-J8pNtg5Ox19gbO3uuMea5Mf8UK2EHohdQTiZduAOVwZUgzhdFimJTzNL7-CdHbwLqBXCuH56sfhElRZpddC-dHh8lhgpRnH28jOHzhbDoOA1CA-t8bbON1J/s1600/IMG_3401a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmE0AmMK2c7zt9JE5N1q5c-J8pNtg5Ox19gbO3uuMea5Mf8UK2EHohdQTiZduAOVwZUgzhdFimJTzNL7-CdHbwLqBXCuH56sfhElRZpddC-dHh8lhgpRnH28jOHzhbDoOA1CA-t8bbON1J/s320/IMG_3401a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is a Christmas gift I am able to show. There is a new baby in the family so I made her a Christmas stocking. I originally had a different plan but I decided to use what fabric I had. If I was to do it over I would use a lighter brown for the snowman arms. In person they show up a bit better though! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX37tvtdqKIlcVOIEAgKNYi_LOcZ5YjpoodxmqU5pepw0rV-wufaEKFPaK8fpgvVSe3_OigCDzgHewRAQfUnlY3W53sWxwAm0u5TFQeOrF6V9D4n8DXC9XqQuWsyhAkrUNBG97RnZymhv3/s1600/IMG_3403a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX37tvtdqKIlcVOIEAgKNYi_LOcZ5YjpoodxmqU5pepw0rV-wufaEKFPaK8fpgvVSe3_OigCDzgHewRAQfUnlY3W53sWxwAm0u5TFQeOrF6V9D4n8DXC9XqQuWsyhAkrUNBG97RnZymhv3/s320/IMG_3403a.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I am still waiting for my sewing machine...They did not find anything obvious for the burning smell so they did a tuneup on it. I had it back for one day but it came back with the tension out of wack so it promptly went back to get that fixed. I'm more than a little frustrated! My tension was perfect when I dropped it off. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My spare machine is back on my sewing desk so that is where my day will be! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Wednesday I was happily machine quilting a little wall hanging and all of a sudden...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I smelled burning...I checked all over but nothing and then I sat down again in front of my sewing machine and I could smell it again and when I touched it was HOT! I don't think that is a good thing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLAjaSuF5MT3E_zChRCsfdRYQfeI47Tf_33plq3IPsBnfCw1ta85KUA__C4JMrXHIVzf2aSjqzJbfW4EbiCnQvkdriC7TMQoOlg51lU4OoOnpYSGCg9ydKY1qmP-Pkk7vyPfYZGZ1xZ0fr/s1600/IMG_3391a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLAjaSuF5MT3E_zChRCsfdRYQfeI47Tf_33plq3IPsBnfCw1ta85KUA__C4JMrXHIVzf2aSjqzJbfW4EbiCnQvkdriC7TMQoOlg51lU4OoOnpYSGCg9ydKY1qmP-Pkk7vyPfYZGZ1xZ0fr/s320/IMG_3391a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is now off to the repair man to see if it can be saved or maybe I'll be shopping for a new machine.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've brought out the spare machine but it is pretty basic - good for small projects so for now I'll have to change up some projects! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And on a secretive note - I've started making my gift making Christmas list!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That means less showing in the next couple of months.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching!</div>

My sewing room has been taken over by a guest so not much has been happening here.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had been working on this large blue and white scrappy star. I got all the star points pieced before I had to set up the sewing room as a guest room.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtIQKBQbCDbXsAZn8b5e_qO12RuUVqOZ1DewT_ln-Hmo0lfpN1k5hqOGRqqOq5PM68krBp5pxEv7TuUPKeOraU7k7R-Msnqw5IdoPG3pPBLDJaxq5dPavP47GZNIAczFMsiOzN8dZoU81w/s1600/IMG_3385a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtIQKBQbCDbXsAZn8b5e_qO12RuUVqOZ1DewT_ln-Hmo0lfpN1k5hqOGRqqOq5PM68krBp5pxEv7TuUPKeOraU7k7R-Msnqw5IdoPG3pPBLDJaxq5dPavP47GZNIAczFMsiOzN8dZoU81w/s320/IMG_3385a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As each star point was finished I was laying them on the floor in no particular way. One day my husband walked in and he was completely mesmerized! I'm not sure if that is good or bad yet! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I started cutting pieces for the border...</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I won't have my room back until later this week, so I have been working on my pile of handwork! I started this sweet little granny square afghan for a little girls Christmas gift. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbj6e4QvcpPF0Lt3EzUsoDT-fAe2MxZFnw2PuFTHBwFZgXS1eTgxMuGP9Xngg22pjYPUGJOyLNcdZVIsMxJQve5JBNS7L5n7g_ZmsmiDfRQwb8XsU1-Ugolebo_y24IMQGpK6PUNHbQQsg/s1600/IMG_3388a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbj6e4QvcpPF0Lt3EzUsoDT-fAe2MxZFnw2PuFTHBwFZgXS1eTgxMuGP9Xngg22pjYPUGJOyLNcdZVIsMxJQve5JBNS7L5n7g_ZmsmiDfRQwb8XsU1-Ugolebo_y24IMQGpK6PUNHbQQsg/s320/IMG_3388a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This will be my first finished Christmas gift this year. Every year I make several Christmas presents for people I care about. I have been thinking about what I want to do this year but I'm not coming up with any great ideas. I wonder if this will be one of those years I don't make much or if it will be one of those years I am making things to the last minute?</div>

Happy Stitching! </div>

One little fall quilt is finished and is now hanging on my condo door! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can tell a quilter lives here!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY5JJCEYwO-25AsvniKx_iNGEo8dRAwUgucu_RGZh0JrtQ-U0cu0EOGIcxy97xqTkBr2JBAz60HdHcvN2SWfv8vAAJ7qe3cg5tElSvis4xVcZhNuD9ZxNBcyzHjK8wMqvyaa879butYnRP/s1600/IMG_3379a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1322" data-original-width="1059" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY5JJCEYwO-25AsvniKx_iNGEo8dRAwUgucu_RGZh0JrtQ-U0cu0EOGIcxy97xqTkBr2JBAz60HdHcvN2SWfv8vAAJ7qe3cg5tElSvis4xVcZhNuD9ZxNBcyzHjK8wMqvyaa879butYnRP/s320/IMG_3379a.jpg" width="256" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And while I was adding binding...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7bvWlsR5yhWaeeNPmD3hHY2tMpvtUjr6u28knr7uUce0dYGvrc2fm0jNp_HXZzHMEE2YsCisFNhZi-iQi4g5Px04X971AHnSxUlnuCSRg0BxW3o764YG5GA6ugA5_zu5EsioqQwM2cM1d/s1600/IMG_3378a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7bvWlsR5yhWaeeNPmD3hHY2tMpvtUjr6u28knr7uUce0dYGvrc2fm0jNp_HXZzHMEE2YsCisFNhZi-iQi4g5Px04X971AHnSxUlnuCSRg0BxW3o764YG5GA6ugA5_zu5EsioqQwM2cM1d/s320/IMG_3378a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Why is it that almost every time I put on binding ( large quilt or small quilt) a seam ends up in the corner?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching!</div>

Fall fever has hit me hard!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been doing my fall cleaning and hadn't thought I had been spending much time in my sewing room but then I started to take some pictures! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In keeping with my UFO's I have worked on a couple projects. I decided my hexagons would have one last border and then it will fit perfectly on my coffee table! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have 3 side sections done and ready to sew on.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9armFx66-yGdQ4mgcy2QUYHm28RDKAeyO61CgHBKkrx3p5WaGnaRidCvsPK_-ULIGXlxrjrBfDpCOxO3FIOpLDIpPeOti3VYaqDyFarqQ1n21sTj-NnuNrryXp-2WcUp1R5bJHqlRJpEv/s1600/IMG_3363a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9armFx66-yGdQ4mgcy2QUYHm28RDKAeyO61CgHBKkrx3p5WaGnaRidCvsPK_-ULIGXlxrjrBfDpCOxO3FIOpLDIpPeOti3VYaqDyFarqQ1n21sTj-NnuNrryXp-2WcUp1R5bJHqlRJpEv/s320/IMG_3363a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had been cutting blue and neutral strips for some time from scraps and my stash. I finally assembled and re-cut and now I am ready to start putting together a star! Each point has 10 strips so it will take me a while to get this made. It is precision piecing! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA2b66szGTd-6YHoJHu1brEnFrL5nCy296spM3Y0WKPVVSheplTDd5z-1ZPUf214LyetPjJyFleUfEmxUZlDLojUTCeurUF77LOfE5cCzcqLo4O2Drj85k_581Xqt6xVFzlgP2ZTcv9jH2/s1600/IMG_3371a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA2b66szGTd-6YHoJHu1brEnFrL5nCy296spM3Y0WKPVVSheplTDd5z-1ZPUf214LyetPjJyFleUfEmxUZlDLojUTCeurUF77LOfE5cCzcqLo4O2Drj85k_581Xqt6xVFzlgP2ZTcv9jH2/s320/IMG_3371a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then fall has struck early here both in my sewing room and outside. I don't think I have ever seen the trees turning this early. It has inspired me in the sewing room though. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I pieced this little top for my condo door!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGCW3l_PZWza7c8JUHFdpZsAcT44PzyFQcmmZo1s40SrnoTFMFMeadT-O7f0mLZm6UwDTsijayeWfxa_ie7PHgWavDCTrRMShsAXkROs11Egup4PTA3eP4sWh9tY6StBkqtzXMpMtS9YsX/s1600/IMG_3364a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1368" data-original-width="1127" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGCW3l_PZWza7c8JUHFdpZsAcT44PzyFQcmmZo1s40SrnoTFMFMeadT-O7f0mLZm6UwDTsijayeWfxa_ie7PHgWavDCTrRMShsAXkROs11Egup4PTA3eP4sWh9tY6StBkqtzXMpMtS9YsX/s320/IMG_3364a.jpg" width="263" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is a small quilt that I will machine quilt so I thought I would try pin basting!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It went really fast!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjMVjqkXr1Xosu1Fdp4BbaWHLr932r-tpe86r69XERokpV3hhnkXCM3yrywy01QlwxWFpC7lUetiM9pQ4QDiDBWTEX11zLOKAi2rTuJpxsbbPwPlPaNe4ai4RdoV7yEAxZ-Jz522b1w6v-/s1600/IMG_3373a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjMVjqkXr1Xosu1Fdp4BbaWHLr932r-tpe86r69XERokpV3hhnkXCM3yrywy01QlwxWFpC7lUetiM9pQ4QDiDBWTEX11zLOKAi2rTuJpxsbbPwPlPaNe4ai4RdoV7yEAxZ-Jz522b1w6v-/s320/IMG_3373a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I pieced this one just for fun! I am planning on big stitching it for lots of texture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv4h0yjfraOgqoRufNN40j12MoIB2MExv3j8aUk8IQC2Gdb2NKjl-fqGc7m4n7-VR1hs5iaDfc1gpv1oXesrb-Q3B7wzZXCRAWFn-SqzcERgoAPxwjWEUhm7YqISr7Xn6efPwFe4jLQCoG/s1600/IMG_3370a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1130" data-original-width="1164" height="310" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv4h0yjfraOgqoRufNN40j12MoIB2MExv3j8aUk8IQC2Gdb2NKjl-fqGc7m4n7-VR1hs5iaDfc1gpv1oXesrb-Q3B7wzZXCRAWFn-SqzcERgoAPxwjWEUhm7YqISr7Xn6efPwFe4jLQCoG/s320/IMG_3370a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The colors are not quite right in the photo but here are the threads I am using. I am using the darker thread around the appliques for contrast to separate those sunflowers from the background.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin56Ty8gDOFRBN4b4KmhS0rnmv5Y2bButS_4g28z24_KIRlBuz3GXQBr6Sh3nyTsiGHqZTFpgiY_hnrNW2eH65DArK9zfRegDnWpZCuj_cJ5rAJhd6FXnH4nUE8fyxJYA2-jDsaRQD2aa-/s1600/IMG_3369a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin56Ty8gDOFRBN4b4KmhS0rnmv5Y2bButS_4g28z24_KIRlBuz3GXQBr6Sh3nyTsiGHqZTFpgiY_hnrNW2eH65DArK9zfRegDnWpZCuj_cJ5rAJhd6FXnH4nUE8fyxJYA2-jDsaRQD2aa-/s320/IMG_3369a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
With these two quilts I have been playing with different machine applique techniques - both turned edge. I bought these Easy Threading needles to help bring my threads to the back to tie off and I LOVE them!!! Why have I never bought these before?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAmHZgeO5iO6TOGXjsqpVNsBsgNQSvoOqXJcjtOIjKGF9r0xtseX3atQzse8Mt_TuvLcXZ03U6wUuJrxZtxUx-9wilgrktYJ0FbniYhJcgSqQSALfpTB98YJ_pzR1ak2539NGZOtpLWpjD/s1600/IMG_3367a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1364" data-original-width="814" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAmHZgeO5iO6TOGXjsqpVNsBsgNQSvoOqXJcjtOIjKGF9r0xtseX3atQzse8Mt_TuvLcXZ03U6wUuJrxZtxUx-9wilgrktYJ0FbniYhJcgSqQSALfpTB98YJ_pzR1ak2539NGZOtpLWpjD/s320/IMG_3367a.jpg" width="190" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And finally I picked up this wool to make myself a fun pair of Christmas socks! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My feet are going to look fabulous on Christmas morning!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnH2WNsO4-21vE2P6GLLTEO3aHqlKMslyWW43mdYayQtvZyEaNMvuUywj2p-LEkqgW_UGGdtG8L0rhzYLy1JHRnQAAj-5g4M5s67SnKxpb8CgH6UHKiT_KLR2L3EbufxzZmb38Qy0YS-OF/s1600/IMG_3361a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnH2WNsO4-21vE2P6GLLTEO3aHqlKMslyWW43mdYayQtvZyEaNMvuUywj2p-LEkqgW_UGGdtG8L0rhzYLy1JHRnQAAj-5g4M5s67SnKxpb8CgH6UHKiT_KLR2L3EbufxzZmb38Qy0YS-OF/s320/IMG_3361a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am going to try to blog a bit more often so I keep caught up! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching</div>

Today was basting day. My goal was to get 3 of 4 quilt tops basted and ready to quilt. I glue basted again but I really am not all that happy with it. It's faster for sure but I really wonder if that glue really all comes out! Next time I am going to try safety pins for the first time. ( I've always thread basted)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are the first two! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The dresden will be going on my table and the birds will be a summer quilt for my sewing room wall. Both quilts are from fabrics I never buy or use.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was in a strange mood that day while I was shopping. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0f6qAMtNEBf6quhGK_uGdAyZ_liMYZe77uVAbMQVCepHFk9vKubDc7rS7HHE0GjJHdm8gvgR06ohn7XZKl07ybpho6i1j3ofHcNKiByNSO3ARdOopGd0tYQKMD7PTywd4Z8YPYjpyOueg/s1600/IMG_3320a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0f6qAMtNEBf6quhGK_uGdAyZ_liMYZe77uVAbMQVCepHFk9vKubDc7rS7HHE0GjJHdm8gvgR06ohn7XZKl07ybpho6i1j3ofHcNKiByNSO3ARdOopGd0tYQKMD7PTywd4Z8YPYjpyOueg/s320/IMG_3320a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGZGj0zFH_pRww5OiKFvQNSS4GMH7XSiwpYxjUDjpIAuMYuafXh_lw_8T-ISQ0f7ljom9JJp19yubjmVk8FIEC9XTbibw0MBk1EGJOPUIlkMvRQWqxWNjYkaW_1uHAOzM0QKKxAqCzoM1M/s1600/IMG_3321a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGZGj0zFH_pRww5OiKFvQNSS4GMH7XSiwpYxjUDjpIAuMYuafXh_lw_8T-ISQ0f7ljom9JJp19yubjmVk8FIEC9XTbibw0MBk1EGJOPUIlkMvRQWqxWNjYkaW_1uHAOzM0QKKxAqCzoM1M/s320/IMG_3321a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This next quilt is all hand appliqued and I when I started it I had such a vision! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Embroidery, beads and big stitch quilting with fabulous colors!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was not to be but it took me a long time to accept. I can still do some handwork with my Rheumatoid Arthritis but there are certain things that just hurt too much. The first to go was the embroidery, the second thing to go was the big stitching. I really wanted that thick thread look so I am going to machine quilt it. It is going to be quite a project and I am hoping in the end that I am happy with it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Other than making backings I really have only completed one thing...a new bag for work! This was the same pattern as my old worn out and shredding work bag. I made one alteration- longer handles so it can be a shoulder bag. I made it from the leftover fabrics from my first tuffett.</div>

I love it so much I am going to make a second bag for everyday with some fake leather fabric I have. I have one other alteration to make in that - to add a center inside dividing pocket</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've been thinking about something. I have been spending TOO MUCH TIME on the internet. I was remembering my life before the internet. Don't get me wrong here - I love the internet. I am a naturally curious person and I love all sharing and ideas but life was simpler without it. I had just a few quilts that were on my soon to make list. Now it seems that there are hundreds of ideas swimming around in my head. It has become overwhelming because my brain never turns off. It seems like I spend more time checking out Pinterest or my Facebook groups ( I have resisted all other sharing formats!) than I have actually enjoying making things. I know there is no turning back from life with the internet but the last couple of weeks I've been taking an internet vacation. I've been trying to limit my time looking...and it has been great! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So , you may not see me posting very often for a while as I see where this will take me. I'll still be checking things out once in a while and I'll still be checking out the blogs I like to follow. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
More importantly I will be making things!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Stitching! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
