Resistance was Futile!

I really just went in to the city to pick up my sewing machine and cross stitch that I had framed...really...that was all.

I did get my machine and I am so happy to have it home! I did a bit of test sewing by starting to put all those neutrals I cut together into a backing. It is working well. What in the world was I expecting back? A machine that wasn't working????

But while I was at the quilt shop...I could not resist.

Well, Quiltmania is one of my favourite quilting magazines! And I really enjoy the colors in this Bali Pop, but I have no excuse for the charm packs.

And then I was off to pick up the cross stitch...this picture does NOT do it justice. In person the snow angel is absolutely lovely.

And yet again, that wasn't all I picked up, but at least I have been thinking about getting a rotating cutting matt for some time now.

So now I can get back to some projects that need finishing!

Waiting for my machine to come home...

So what is a quilter to do?

I've been sorting and cutting. I had a lot of small beige background pieces so I starting cutting them up into 12-1/2" square, 6-1/2" square and 6-1/2" x 12-1/2" blocks. I am going to piece them into a backing for a quilt I am sending out to be long armed.

Then I got busy working on my applique quilt again...all the flowers and leaves and swags are all prepped and ready to sew.

Here is my first border in progress.

Finally, I have been enjoying some 'real' hand quilting. My last 3 big quilts were all 'big' stitched. I wasn't sure my fingers were going to work on small stitches again but they seemed to remember...

And all the rest of my time has been all about stopping and smelling the flowers!

These roses are so fragrant and the rose bush was just so full of flowers this year.

My Baby is Going for Service...

It is time for a cleaning...my baby is coming up on 5 years old and I use it ALL the time.
It has never been in for a good cleaning so it's time but I already miss it...

So while it is gone I have some applique...

...some knitting...some hand quilting and I am finally going to play with this little beauty!

I am going to pick out a new and SMALL project to try her out!
But first I will read the little book!

Happy Stitching!
